Small Wind Installer Training

Nationally recognized renewable energy trainer, Roy Butler, will conduct a 24-hour small wind turbine (less than 100 kW) installer training in Great Falls on March 19-21, 2013. This course is designed around the NABCEP Small Wind Installer Task Analysis.

The Small Wind Turbine Installer Workshop will provide the participants with the fundamental knowledge of how to properly site, specify, permit, install and maintain a residential small wind turbine. Participants will learn about, the fundamentals of wind, basic wind site assessment, zoning, permitting, net metering and utility interconnection, turbine selection, economics and design considerations, tower selection, estimating energy production, foundation and soil condition assessment, safety procedures, installation techniques, balance of system components, commissioning and interconnection, data collection, and how to troubleshoot and maintain a system.

The course will be conducted at MSU-Great Falls. Registration is $200. This training is provided by Montana State University Extension, MSU-Great Falls Wind Montana Project, and NorthWestern Energy.
